    Emily Champoux MPH, RD

    FOUNDER

    Pronouns: she/her/hers

Emily firmly believes in equitable access to care and challenges the notion of “sick enough” that has been created by an insurance system that makes some clients more “deserving of care”. Disordered eating is rampant in our society and more needs to be done to train providers on how to identify it among patients and refer them to resources that will support and not cause (further) harm. As a provider she also knows what it’s like to seek help as she struggled with an eating disorder in high school and into college.

Emily is particularly passionate about the intersectionality of disordered eating with neurodivergence, trauma, experiences of weight stigma/bias and individuals pre/post bariatric surgery. These groups are historically "missed" in our current treatment model and/or cycle in and out of treatment settings struggling to get better or receive the care they truly need and deserve.

    Maddy Hughes MS, RD

    ASSOCIATE - REGISTERED DIETITIAN

    Pronouns: she/her/hers

Maddy believes holding a safe container for clients is one of the most important interventions as a provider and supports clients in being solution-focused when possible as well as in sitting in discomfort when necessary.

Maddy believes healing happens when we are able to build curiosity and trust with ourselves and our bodies. She approaches care with the understanding that you are the ultimate expert on yourself, and offers evidence-based, compassionate care as guidance along the way.

Her approach is non-judgmental and informed by Intuitive Eating, Health at Every Size, and Mindfulness; and she is passionate about supporting clients as they move towards integrated and embodied living, whatever that may look like for them.

Maddy has also completed a 200-hour yoga certification which helps her support clients in strengthening their mind-body connection.

  • At Embodied Health Counseling we focus on providing highly tailored, individualized support. Our caseloads are small as we value above all else the relationships we have with our clients. Working outside of insurance allows us to provide this standard of care, protect your privacy and determine what is appropriate for your care without insurance dictating our treatment plans as some plans only allow clients to see a dietitian 4-5x/year which we truly believe is inadequate.

Our practice is out of network with insurance which means that we provide superbills for clients to submit to their insurance instead. We also work with Reimbursify to submit superbills on your behalf too.

We do have a limited number of sliding scale spots. You can inquire about these in your consult call if interested

  • We are an entirely virtual practice supporting clients in California, New York as well as Arizona, Colorado, Michigan, New Jersey and Virginia.

  • Yes. Our practice offers two options for superbills. We can either provide you with a monthly superbill to submit yourself or we can submit it using our partner Reimbursify. We can not guarantee reimbursement.
