Our Providers

We believe in having a team of individuals that can serve clients of various identities. By having providers with various backgrounds and experiences we are able to create safe spaces for our clients to feel understood and heard without having to spend their time explaining why they have those experiences or beliefs

Registered Dietitians & Therapists

  • Emily Champoux MPH, RDN - Founder

    Pronouns: she/her/hers

Specialties: Emily specializes in disordered eating (anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder and orthorexia) as well as clients that have experienced weight cycling and chronic dieting throughout their life span.

Emily is particularly passionate about the intersectionality of disordered eating with ADHD, personality disorders, trauma, experiences of weight stigma/bias and individuals pre/post bariatric surgery. These groups are historically "missed" in our current model of eating disorder care and/or cycle in and out of treatment settings struggling to get better or receive the care they truly need and deserve.

Approach: As the founder of Embodied Health, Emily describes herself as a disrupter to the current system for treating disordered eating. She’s first hand seen how a lack of diversity in providers and limited education and awareness of eating disorders in the healthcare field has caused harm to her clients. As a provider she also knows what it’s like to seek help as she struggled with an eating disorder in high school and into college.

She firmly believes in equitable access to care and challenges the notion of “sick enough” that has been created by an insurance system that makes some clients more “deserving of care”. Disordered eating is rampant in our society and more needs to be done to train providers on how to identify it among patients and refer them to resources that will support and not cause (further) harm.

As a white, cis-gender woman she is aware of her privilege in a healthcare system that is traumatic in nature. She is committed to providing trauma-informed care and to supporting clients wherever they may be in their eating disorder journey.

Emily is currently completing her Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) certification

About: As a registered dietitian and yoga instructor, Maddy enjoys empowering her clients through nutrition therapy so that they may adequately and confidently nourish themselves. She has spent her career working with clients across the disordered eating spectrum and in all levels of eating disorder care from outpatient to residential. Maddy believes holding a safe container for clients is one of the most important interventions as a provider and supports clients in being solution-focused when possible as well as in sitting in discomfort when necessary. She believes that a healed relationship with food and body is accessible to everyone.

She approaches care with the understanding that you are the ultimate expert on yourself, and offers evidence-based, compassionate care as guidance along the way. Her approach is non-judgmental and informed by Intuitive Eating, Health at Every Size, and Mindfulness; and she is passionate about supporting clients as they move towards integrated and embodied living, whatever that may look like for them. She also has her 200-hour yoga certification and loves supporting individuals in finding joy in movement and strengthening their mind-body connection.

What to expect in your first session: Maddy will spend the first session getting to know you as a person, inviting you to share your story, in addition to gaining an understanding of the support you are looking for. She will ask questions to better understand your health history, current relationship with food, and other factors that may be impacting your ability to nourish yourself. Because transparency fosters safety, Maddy will also hold space for you to voice questions, hesitations, and concerns surrounding the process of healing your relationship with food and body.
